How to get there
Guttannen lies at an altitude of 1,057 metres above sea level in the Haslital valley in the Bernese Oberland. The mountain village is situated on the northern flank of the Grimsel Pass and is the second-largest municipality in the canton of Bern in terms of area.
It can be reached by public transport or by car from Meiringen/Innertkirchen. In summer, whilst the Grimsel Pass is open, it can also be reached via Oberwald/Gletsch (VS).
Public transport
In summer (approx. mid-June to early October), the Grimsel Pass line 161, operated by PostBus, also runs between Meiringen and Oberwald VS.
Travelling by car
From Meiringen to Innertkirchen, then take the Grimselstrasse (Cantonal Road 6) towards the Grimsel Pass. After about 10 km, you will reach Guttannen.
In summer, cross the Grimsel Pass via Gletsch (VS) and follow the Grimselstrasse to Guttannen (check road conditions and pass opening times).
Parking
Parking at Hotel Bären and kriSTALL is limited. Please use the public car park a few metres from kriSTALL (on the right-hand side of the road when coming from Innertkirchen, at the edge of the village).

The time slot is a guide, not a strict requirement. The journey via Grimselstrasse can vary depending on traffic and weather – just pop in when you arrive. During busy periods, there may occasionally be a wait.
Experience
kriSTALL opens a window into the fascinating world of crystal. In the smallest of spaces, housed in a well-preserved barn in Guttannen, you will embark on a magical journey through the treasures of the Grimsel massif and the people who have dedicated their lives to these gems. .
The history of crystal mining in Guttannen is not only one of splendour – it is also one of suffering, courage and tireless searching. At the heart of the kriSTALL experience is the extraordinary collection belonging to the Rufibach family, generations of which went up into the mountains and displayed hard work, passion and unwavering dedication in search of the light within the stone. kriSTALL brings the eventful history of this family to life – and with it the history of an entire valley
Sparkling, unique crystals, light installations, video profiles and interactive stations revive the past in shimmering splendour and lead visitors to a place where the power of rock meets the power of storytelling.
